Professional metal polishing is an essential part of any production process where the finished part needs to look and function at its best.
SCP offer all manually created finishes including traditional “dull” polish, satin brushed, bright, commercial mirror and super mirror along with specific Ra finishing.
We are also experienced in the careful restoration of classic car parts, antiques and marine polishing to very high standards.
Metal polishing is where engineering meets art, it’s the process of refining the
roughness of a metal surface using a series of abrasives. In short, the smoother the
metal surface the more reflective it will be. Metals such as stainless steel and brass
can be polished to a crystal clear mirror finish. The process is labour intensive and
takes a lot of time, skill and experience.
At SCP we appreciate that different parts will have different finishing requirements
therefore we offer a range of finishes from the budget friendly “satin” & “bright” polish
to our standard “commercial mirror” right up to “super mirror”. This ensures all our
customers are satisfied with the results while keeping within budget.

SCP are a small team of dedicated professionals, with many years of experience in
polishing all types of metal. We work for some of the leading precision engineering
firms, yacht builders, architectural designers & car builders in the country.
SCP can polish any metal item but the types of parts we specialise in are stainless
steel exhausts, yacht railings, marine grade parts, propellors, light fittings,
brassware, chrome car trim, antique restoration, brass door furniture,
Our metal polishing workshop is fully equipped with a range of both traditional and modern polishing machines & tools along with surface analysis, ultrasonic cleaning and light fabrication equipment. For mass finishing and deburring we also have a large vibratory trough capable of processing hundreds of small parts at a time.
Corrosion Resistance: Metal polishing is the best way to create a surface that resists rust and corrosion
Aesthetic Appeal: It restores the shine of a metal object to its previously polished surface and also creates a new and enhanced appearance
Improved Chemical Resistance: To protect the metal from the damaging effects of the chemicals, polishing is the best way
Ease in Cleaning: A shiny, gleaming, and polished surface prevents adhesion of food, dirt, or contaminants that can otherwise get attached to the metal surface

Metal polishing is the process of refining the surface roughness of a metal to achieve the desired aesthetic or functional purpose
In short, the smoother the surface the more “shiny” or reflective it becomes as the light is reflected back in a straight line. The reflected image clarity is dependant on how many processes are used, for example a super mirror polish on stainless steel would normally include 4 abrasive stages followed by another 4 buffing stages.
This can be achieved in many different ways, at SCP we stock a large range of abrasives, metal specific polishing compounds, animal fat free compounds and utilise our vast inventory of tools and machinery to make sure we get the best finish in the most efficient way.
In order to guarantee customer satisfaction we offer free of charge sample processing to accurately determine the level of finish required for an item.
You can use different varieties of abrasives for metal polishing. It depends on the condition of the material you choose. In the case of unfinished material, the process of polishing consists of a number of stages. By using a rougher abrasive, the imperfections from the material are removed. Once all the impurities are removed, a finer abrasive is used for the other stages so that there are no marks on the material.
Our metal polishers then use their experience to select a suitable combination of buffing compounds that are applied with wheels and high-speed polishers that enable us to give the material a mirror-like finish. At South Coast Polishing we only use the very best metal polishing compounds from trusted suppliers, we also stock a wide range of non-animal fat compounds for use in the pharmaceutical, food grade and medical polishing processes where required.
In addition to the cosmetic value of metal objects, metal polishing has a practical purpose as well. When oxidation is removed from beneath the surface of the object, there is no further corrosion of metal that both improves its functionality and prolongs its working life.
The industries utilizing metal polishing services comprise, but are not limited to:
Our modern metal polishing workshop is located in Partridge Green, West Sussex and is fully equipped with both high quality authentic polishing machines and the latest in hand held/power tool technology enabling us to provide the most efficient service and fast turnaround times.
