About Us

Established in 2019 by owner Richard Ockelford, SCP now employs a small team of highly skilled and dedicated metal polishers with over 30 years of experience between them.

Domestic Metal Polishing and Blasting Services

For the public we offer our polishing and blasting services to bring new life into your cherished antiques, car, motorcycle & boat parts or housewares. Anything from copper kettles, coal buckets, door furniture, car trim, light fittings if it’s made of metal we’ll make it shine like new. SCP is the solution to all of your parts finishing needs, we offer a complete package including deburring, linishing, polishing, bead blasting, full degreasing & ultrasonic cleaning, ceramic coating & much more on stainless steel, steel, aluminium, copper, titanium and brass. Our standard turn-around time is 10 working days, we also provide free sample processing and next day tracked & insured delivery. Metal Polishing

Metal polishing is an art, creating beautiful or functional surface finishes by refining the metal surface using a combination of abrasives and polishes.

Our polishers are highly skilled and experienced in polishing all metals, any shape, any size.

Blast Finishing

We offer both Vapour (wet) Blasting and dry glass bead blasting. These processes can be used either to create a sleek satin finish on new metal parts or restore the original factory finish on used parts such as aluminium castings, engine blocks, cases and much more. Safe for all non-ferrous metals.

Spray Coatings

SCP are proud to offer a range of high quality industrial grade coating options. A wide range of colours from the Cerakote C series range which provide both durability and high temperature resistance, perfect for motorcycle exhausts and brake calipers.

We also offer a clear polymer resin coating suitable for highly polished metals that adds protection from the elements without sacrificing finish quality.

Case Study:

Caterham Race Exhaust

A short video illustrating the various stages required to attain a high mirror finish, demonstrated here on a stainless steel Caterham 7 exhaust system. The footage shows the stainless steel tube is heavily tarnished with heat scale, colour, scratches, dings and tar deposits. This is where the initial sanding process is vital to enable a high mirror polished finish, sanding metal takes skill and patience as incorrect techniques may lead to additional damage & a poor finish. All SCP polishing staff are trained and experienced in this method ensuring our capability to deliver superior quality finishes on all types of metal. FAQ's

What's your turn around time for polishing?

Our standard turn around time for repeat production work is 10 working days. For domestic work and one off projects please allow 6-8 weeks lead time from the point of contact.

For urgent enquiries we may be able to offer expedite rates or even a same day service for small jobs but this is strictly subject to availability. Please call the office on 01403 710746 to check current availability

What condition do the parts need to be in?

To get the most cost effective service from SCP it’s best to ensure all parts are fully dismantled, clean and free from any coatings before dropping them off. Extra charges may be made for dismantling or removing coatings such as paint or anodising

Can I send my parts by post?

Yes. Please use a tracked delivery service and send parts with a cover letter including your contact details. We will confirm receipt once the parts arrive and arrange delivery back to you, usually with UPS next day (approx.+£15.00)

Can you polish / re-plate Chrome?

Chrome plating is very thin and professional polishing will remove it. We are able to lightly clean existing chrome but in most cases we will advise that you send the parts for re-plating. We do not offer any electro-plating services at this time.

Do you polish Alloy Wheels?

We no longer undertake stripping or polishing on alloy wheels, there are other companies better suited for this type of work.

I took the parts to SCP and he was most helpful giving me a genuine price and taking images and getting me to take images of the parts I’ve given him so there was no problems with missing parts on collection.

Collection day came and I was bold over by the quality of the finish that he had delivered for me at a very reasonable price.
